Born in Aylesford, he was a son of the late Thomas and Ethel (Marshall) Baltzer. He was the operator of Clyde L. Baltzer Ltd. for many years. He was a 32nd degree Mason, member of town council, member of the school board and a member of the board of trade. He served overseas during the Second World War with the Canadian Army. Surviving besides his wife, the former Ruth Sangster, are a son, Clyde L. Jr., Clementsvale; a daughter, Susan (Mrs. Alan Puxley), Halifax; one grandchild; four brothers, Peter, Percy, Clifford and Paul, all of Aylesford; five sisters, Marjorie, Franklin, Mass.; Violet, Middleton; Myrna, Ardith; and Pearl, all of Aylesford. Service was held Monday in St. Luke's Anglican Church, the Rev. David Reid officiating. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery.
