  • Obituary: With great sadness, we announce the passing of Ivan Kendall Ross Langille on February 1, 2017 at home in Tatamagouche, Nova Scotia, Canada. Survived by loving wife Mai (nee Joe); mother Dorothy A. Langille (nee Ross); daughter Stasia Stark; grandchildren, Kaylynn Kai, Kendall Ryan, and Ariya Grace; stepson Christopher Hum; siblings: Dolores Wood (Robert, deceased 2016); Rosalie Riedel (Thomas); Bonita Harris (Edward); Martin (Susan); Daniel (Teresa); sister-in-law Cheryl Langille; In-laws, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. Predeceased by father Robert George Langille (1999) and his brother Aaron (2016). Born in Truro, Nova Scotia on December 2, 1950, Ivan moved when young with his parents to Ormond Beach, Florida. For many years, he was a local plumber working with his father, brothers, and his own company. Ivan played on Daytona softball teams. He was awarded many trophies, including for fastest pitcher and most home runs. He was an avid gardener, nature photographer, and body-builder. Ivan returned to Canada in 1992, retiring to Tatamagouche in 2006 but returning to Ormond often. As cremation has taken place, family, friends, and acquaintances are invited to join a Celebration of Life on Saturday, February 25, 2017 from 1-3 pm at Bailey Riverbridge Gardens, 1 Beach St., Ormond Beach. Survived by loving wife, Mai (Joe); mother, Dorothy A. Langille (nee Ross); predeceased by father, Robert George Langille (1999) and older brother, Aaron (2016); Also surviving are, daughter, Stasia Stark; stepson, Christopher Hum; three grandchildren, Kaylynn Kai, Kendall Ryan, and Ariya; siblings, Dolores Wood (Robert, deceased 2016); Rosalie Riedel (Thomas); Bonita Harris (Edward); Martin (Susan); Daniel (Teresa); sister-in-law, Cheryl Langille; father-in-law Gorden Joe; mother-in-law Ying Fu Joe (nee Wong); brothers-in-law, Robert and Jeff (Mary); sister-in-law, Linda Sears (Randy deceased 2013); many wonderful nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Born in Truro, Ivan loved playing baseball with neighborhood friends and tossing balls with brother Aaron. He belonged to a Florida softball league for many years. He was an avid gardener, nature photographer, and body-builder who loved to use his physical strength to move things when no one else could. His family moved to Florida when he was a young boy. In 1992, Ivan returned to Canada, retiring to Tatamagouche in 2006. As cremation has taken place, we ask family, friends, and acquaintances to join in a Celebration of Life and share memories, to be held on Saturday, February 4, 2017, from 3-5 pm at 30 Broad Street, Truro. A memorial service is to be held later this summer, time and place to be announced. Many thanks to the nurses and doctors of the hospital for their kindness, compassion, and support.
