  • Obituary: FREEMAN, Pearl - Our dear mother, Pearl Freeman, passed away peacefully in Shiretown Nursing Home on January 21, 2012, at the age of 92, with family at her side. Born in River John, she was the eldest daughter of the late Captain James and Edna (Langille) Murphy. Mom was a special person who also put her family before herself. She had a special gift for sewing and knitting for her five daughters and her grandchildren. A wonderful cook and baker, visitors were always made welcome and enjoyed her talents. Pearl was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Pictou, a former member of New Horizons and enjoyed bowling and card playing. She will be sadly missed by daughters, Beanie (James) MacKay, Caribou River; Shannon (George) Pavelka, Burlington, Ont.; Lee (Faus) Johnson, Marjorie (John) MacLean and son-in- law Brian, all of Pictou. Her grand- children, Jill, Scott, Kim, Steven, Sarah, Susan and Jonathan, who were the apple of her eye as well as great- grandchildren, Zacharl, Kyle, Cailie, Tanner, Tyler, and Gordie; also surviving are sisters, Margaret Rozee, Halifax; Dorothy Mantin, Toronto; as well as sisters-in-law, Leona and Elsie Freeman; several nieces and nephews. Pearl was predeceased by her loving husband, Morris; daughter, Ann Luken sister, Ann; brothers, Lester and Milo. Cremation has taken place and visitation will held in McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou from 24 and 7-9 p.m. on Wednesday. Family flowers only. Donations in her memory may be made to St James Anglican Church, Pictou or a charity of choice. Burial will take place at a later date in Seaview Cemetery.
