Born September 5, 1919, in Crowes Mills, she was a daughter of the late Suther and Lila (Crowe) Roode. Fran was affiliated with Trinity United Church, Onslow and worked at Stanfield's as a floor lady in the silk room. Fran was the last surviving member of her immediate family and is survived by her sons, William "Pink" (Val) MacKinnon, Donald (Marlene) MacKinnon, Belmont; grandchildren, Lisa (Kevin) MacNutt, Jeff (Theresa) MacKinnon, Truro; great grandchildren, Cole MacNutt, Ally MacNutt, Annalise MacNutt, Jillian MacKinnon, Emily MacKinnon, Delia MacKinnon, Natalie MacKinnon, Jack MacKinnon; foster sister, Diane Cormier, Debert; numerous nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Allen Joseph MacKinnon; siblings, Gardner, Earl, Lawrence, Don, Gerald, Laurie, Helen, Rita, Dora, Maime, Ida in infancy. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where the funeral service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2012, Reverend Gerry Kerr officiating.
