  • Obituary: Teed, Verlie "Sylvia" Daisy (Turner) passed away peacefully at the age of 85 on January 7, 2014 at Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro with her family at her side. She was born in May, 1928 in St. Mary's Bay, Guysborough Co. in a lighthouse. Losing her parents at an early age, she was placed for adoption and later adopted by the Pratts' in Belmont where she met her husband, Charles Teed. They were married for 46 years and raised seven children, Odessa (Rick), David (Betty), Valerie (Bill/Pink), Hazel (John) Linda (Steve), Kathy (Sherman). She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, the latest born on January 2, 2014. She was predeceased by husband, Charles; daughter, Marsha (Eric); sons-in-law, Curtis, Blair, Malcolm; parents, Charles and Mary Turner; several sisters and brothers. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 9 from 7-9 pm; funeral service on Friday at 10 a.m., both in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Glenn MacLean officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the S.P.C.A.
