The deceased had been confined to his bed for the past six months, following a major operation. During his lengthy illness, he was tenderly cared for by his wife, the former Miss Bessie Mossman, Farmington. Mr. Haines was born at New Canada 78 years ago and was the son of the late Mariah and Edmund Haines of that place. Since his marriage in 1900, he resided in Farmington, where he was engaged in farming. He was known and respected by a large number of friends. Surviving besides his wife, are two children, Helen, Mrs. Durwood Tupper of Morristown and Russel, at home; also one brother, Allan of New Canada and eight grandchildren. The funeral services were conducted by the Rev. H.S. Hartlin at the United Church, Barss Corner, of which the deceased was a member, on Sunday afternoon and were largely attended by sorrowing friends and relatives from many nearby communities. Rev. Hartlin used as his test, John 11:25, "I am the Resurrection and the Life; he that believeth in Me, though he die, yet shall he live," this being chosen by Mr. Haines before his death. Burial was in the Barss Corner Baptist Cemetery.
