  • Marriage: Marriage Annoucement Russell Canning - Deborah Lee Langille July 19, 1975 PICTOU- A pretty summer wedding of interest to many friends and relatives took place on Sat. July 19, in St. James Anglican Church, when Rev.Cecil Hebb united in marriage Deborah Lee L. and James Russell Canning. The bride is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Robert. J. Langille, Elliott St., Pictou, and the groom is the son of Mr.and Mrs Russell Canning, Westville. James Moir was organist and played nuptial music during the ceremony. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a floor length gown of white polyester with a satin cape collar, trimmed with simulated flowers. Her elbow-length nylon tulle veil was held in place by a tiara of lace and pearls. She carried a bouquet of miniature red carnations with baby`s breath. Pamela Langille sister of the bride, was made of honor and wore a floor-length gown of yellow polyester, trimmed with white lace. Karen Walker, cousin of the bride was bridesmaid and wore a floor-length gown of blue polyester trimmed with cream lace. Each wore a picture hat to match their gown. Jack Canning, brother of the groom was best man. The ushers were Clayton Canning and Kevin MacNutt, both of Westville. A reception for 50 guests was held following the ceremony at the Braeside Hotel, Pictou. Mrs. Langille mother of the bride, chose a street length dress of turquoise polyester trimmed with white. Mrs. Canning chose a street-length dress of blue lace. Before leaving on their wedding trip, the bride placed her bouquet on the grave of her grandmother Langille. The maid-of honor presented her bouquet to her Grandmother, Mrs. Charles. Walker. Out of town guests were present from Halifax, Cape Breton, and Boston. The happy couple will reside in Westville, the groom is employed with Sobey`s Stores Ltd.
