  • Obituary: Oct. 8, 1993 Halifax Chronicle Herald HUNSLEY, Russell Alexander - 89, East Leicester, Cumberland County, died October 7, 1993, in North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash. Born in East Leicester, he was a son of the late Clarence Edgar and Mabel Emma (Carter) Hunsley. He was a member of East Leicester United Church. As a young man, he traveled to Western Canada on the harvest excursions. Prior to retirement, he was the rural route mail driver for Amherst RR 3 for 37 years and operated his own farm. As a hobby, he enjoyed making maple syrup and other maple products from his own trees. He is survived by his former wife, the former Dorothy Porter, Port Hood; four daughters, Gladys (Mrs. Donald Vandenburg), Pugwash River; Mrs. Frances Hartling, Halifax; Ruth (Mrs. William (Bill) Dacey), Toronto; Eleanor (Mrs. David Reid), Oxford; son, Alvin, Sutherlands Lake, Cumberland County; two sisters, Alice (Mrs. Duncan Spidell), Lunenburg; Mrs. Elda Lowther, East Leicester; brother, Carl, East Leicester; 15 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his second wife, the former Ruby Corkum; son, Kencil; sister, Annie Bird; brother, Everett; a great-grandson, Donald Harry Arnold MacDonald. Visitation will be this afternoon and evening in Allen's Funeral Home, Oxford, where funeral will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Leicester Cemetery. Donations may be made to Leicester Cemetery Memorial Fund or any charity.
