Capt. William H.P. "Harry" '96 94, of Parrsboro, Cumberland County went to be with his Lord on Monday, September 13, 2004 from Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro surrounded by love. Born in Bristol, England, he was the son of the late Thomas and Margaret (Morley) Moore. He came to Canada in 1927 and worked in the Amherst area on a farm. Harry met and married Aileen Cove in 1940 and worked in the Springhill Coal Mines from 1941 to 1958. In 1959, they entered full time ministry with the Salvation Army as Envoys in Parrsboro and later were promoted to Aux. Captains. They also served in Shelburne, Digby and New Waterford retiring in 1976, yet continued to assist whenever he could in the Parrsboro area. He had tremendous love for the Lord, music, animals and people. Playing guitar, autoharp, mouth organ and singing gospel music with his children gave him much enjoyment. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, the former Aileen (Cove); daughters, Barbara Waterland, Woodstock, Ont.; Lalia (Donald) Yorke, Stewiacke; Alicia Clarke, Woodstock, Ont.; Ruth Perrin, Parrsboro; a son, Stephen (Peggy), Woodstock, Ont.; foster daughters, Wendy (Carl) Bragg, Collingwood; Laura (Dave) Fowler, Toronto; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; a great-great grandchild; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Major (Mike) Moore; sisters, May, Lily, Irene; a step-sister; 5 step-brothers, all of England. Visitation 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro. Funeral 2 p.m. Thursday at the Parrsboro Baptist Church, Capt. Catherine Young of the Salvation Army officiating. Burial in the Parrsboro Baptist Cemetery. Family flowers only.
