He was in his usual health in the morning, took his breakfast and about 10 o'clock died of heart disease. He died on his 61st birthday, having been born at Paradise 22 Feb 1823. For many years he was one of the prominant men in the Conservative Party. He represented Annapolis County in the House of Assembly from 1859 to 1867, holding part of this time the office of Railway Commissioner and afterwards sat for a term in the House of Commons from 1878 to 1882. He was a leading member of the Baptist body. J.W. LONGLEY, M.P.P. for Annapolis was a nephew of the deceased.
