  • Obituary: Willis Colin Porter … 63, of Grafton, Kings County passed away suddenly, Friday, February 6, 2009 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Kentville, Kings County, he was the son of Florence (Illsley) Porter, Grafton and the late Lawrence Porter. He attended Central Kings Rural High School and at the conclusion of grade 10 enrolled in the Wolfville school and later Acadia University, Wolfville. He was a sporting enthusiast with an active interest in basketball and had been inducted in the Nova Scotia Sports Hall of Fame. He enjoyed spending time with family, especially visiting his uncle, Eugene and cousin, Gail for their Monday night card games. He was co-owner of P. W. Sales in Coldbrook and was a regular 6:00 a.m. visitor of Tim Horton's in Coldbrook. In addition to his mother, he is survived by brothers, Gerald (LaVerne), Lakeville, Kings County and Dale, Grafton; sister, Connie (Irving) Fredericks, Black Rock; three nieces, Pam (Douglas) Spidle, Karen (Wayne) Comeau, Kelly (Kenny) Mansfield, all of Black Rock; great nieces and nephews, Wayne (Rebecca) and Nicole Spidle, Michael, Colin and Ethan Comeau, Korey and Kendra Mansfield; a great great nephew, Jake. In addition to his father, he was predeceased by a nephew, Mark Porter. Cremation has taken place under the direction of the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville and there will be no visitation, by family request. The funeral service, followed by a reception, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 10, 2009 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. A private family burial will take place in the Lakeview Cemetery, Lakeville. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville.
