  • Obituary: Dickie, Leslie Garfield '96 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of a wonderful husband, father, Bumpa, brother, uncle, and friend. Les passed away peacefully in the VG hospital on Thursday March 17th, 2022. Although his four-year battle with dementia and a very short and rapid battle with cancer challenged him recently, his kind-hearted, easy-going nature held steady throughout. Leslie was born in Middle Musquodoboit and was a son of the late Lester and Goldie Dickie. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Sharron (Monck). Les is also survived by his children, Tony (Heather) Dickie and Angela (Donald) LeBlanc; grandchildren, Matt (Charlotte) Dickie, Megan (Cory) Allen, and Dylan LeBlanc; great-grandchildren, Claire, Grace, and Hudson; siblings, Florence (Dick) Irwin, Sandra (Ed) MacKay, and Rod (Pam) Dickie, as well as several nieces and nephews. Les will be dearly missed by many. Les spent most of his working career in retail management (Co-op Atlantic for many years), traveling and living throughout Atlantic Canada, spending the last 22 years in Cole Harbour. Some of his favourite places to live included PEI, Campobello, and Labrador City. Throughout his life, some of his favourite pastimes included going on long drives, meeting new people, or being near a lake, stream, or brook with his fishing pole. Fishing trips were always made extra special when joined by grandchildren or other loved ones. The family would like to extend a special thank you to staff on 3B (VG), the Palliative Care program, and continuing care/homecare. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In his memory, we invite friends and relatives to enjoy a peaceful fishing trip in his honour. If you would like to make a donation in his memory, please give consideration to doing so to the Palliative Care unit/program in your local community. Arrangements have been entrusted to Arimathea Funeral Cooperative, Upper Musquodoboit. A message of condolence for the family may be left by posting your comment as a guest in the area below.
