  • Obituary: STEPHEN J. SIEGL, JR. of Norwell, died on Friday, Dec. 29th, 2006 at the South Shore Hospital in Weymouth. He was 83. Mr. Siegl was born in Providence, Rhode Island and spent his early years in Cranston, RI. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and following his military service continued his education at both Brown University in Providence and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Cambridge. Mr. Siegl was a civil engineer by profession and during his career was associated with a number of firms including; U.S.A.A.F. Meteorolgy, was a fall-out analyst for the Department of Defense, also, Fay, Spofford & Thorndike, the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad Co., the Dam Division Commission of Pennsylvania, the Charles T. Main Co. of Boston, Jackson & Moreland of Boston, Lewis W. Perkins & Son of Hingham, the Hingham branch of the Tropical Radio and Telegraph Co., was the engineer for the Town of Scituate and for the past 32 years had his own civil engineering firm as well. He came to Hingham in the early 1950's where he lived until moving to Norwell in 1971. Mr. Siegl was a member of the Colonial Hills Baptist Church in South Weymouth. Husband of the late Carol (Souther) Siegl, he leaves his four children; Peter K.S. Siegl of Blue Bell, PA, Laurie A. Pecoraro of Carver, Patricia D. Hughes of Pensacola, FL and John D. Siegl of Columbus, OH; his sister, Joan Menzies of Greenville, RI; 6 grandchildren and one great grandchild. He also was the brother of the late Betty Siegl. A Memorial Service will be conducted on Friday, Jan. 12th at 11 AM at the South Shore Baptist Church, 578 Main St. (Rt. 228), Hingham. Rather than flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Colonial Hills Baptist Church, P.O. Box 412, South Weymouth, MA 02190. The interment in the High Street Cemetery, Hingham was private.
