  • Obituary: Henderson, N.Y. - Eugene G. Piddock, 71, of 12521 County Route 72, died Tuesday morning, at his home, under the care of his family and Hospice of Jefferson County. Born Sept. 12, 1935 in Brooklyn, at Midwood Hospital, the son of Olin E. and Gertrude V Keefe, Piddock, he graduated as the Valedictorian from Immaculata High School in New York City, in 1953. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from Jan. 18, 1954, to Aug. 31, 1958, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant. He graduated from the American Academy of Funeral Service, Inc., in New York City, and became a New York State licensed funeral director on June 21, 1961. He was married to Linda G. Sinclair on June 24, 1961 at St. Mark's Church in Brooklyn. He joined the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department on January 13, 1964 and retired on August 5, 1976, as a detective sergeant. He taught criminal justice at Jefferson Community College and served as the Henderson Town Constable. He also ran the Henderson Police Boat Patrol for many years. He is survived by two sons and their wives, John and Wendy. Kinderhook, Robert and Kathryn of East Amherst; two daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Robert Hatch, Oneida, and Sara and Robert Martin, Watertown; 9 granddaughters, 7 grandsons and 9 great grandchildren. He was elected Henderson Town Justice in 1977 and served for 30 years until he resigned June 30, 2007. Mr. Piddock was a member of St. Andrew's Church in Sackets Harbor, a degree member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post 586 in Adams, a former member and president of the Henderson Central School Board, a member of the New York State Magistrate Association and the Jefferson County Association of Magistrates and Court Clerks. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Friday at the Carpenter-Stoodley Funeral Home, Belleville. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and the funeral home.
