  • Obituary: DELANEY, George Logan - 82, Oxford, Cumberland Co., passed away Thursday, October 19, 2000, in North Cumberland Memorial Hospital, Pugwash, Cumberland Co., with his loving wife and daughter by his side. Born in Westchester, Cumberland Co., he was the only child of the late Rufus and Emma Jane (Roblee) Delaney. He was an adherent of Trinity United Church, Oxford and he served with the Royal Canadian Dragoons in South Africa, Italy and England during the Second World War. He was a member of the Wimburn Masonic Lodge 75 AF and AM, Oxford and served as past master and treasurer of the Wimburn Masonic Lodge 75 AF and AM. He also served as very worshipful grand steward of the Grand Lodge of Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of Nova Scotia and he was a recipient of a meritorious service medal presented to him by the Grand Lodge. He was also a member and past president of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 36, Oxford. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and he had a great love of the outdoors. He was employed with the Oxford Desk Company in Oxford for a number of years and was self employed as a carpenter for a number of years until the time of his retirement. He also owned and operated his own blueberry plains and was a member of the Blueberry Producers Association of Nova Scotia. He was a very loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. Surviving are wife of 52 years, the former R. Gene Carroll; daughter, Cheryl Ann Teed and husband Walter, Belmont Mountain, Colchester Co.; grandsons, Adam Teed and wife Connie, Crowes Mills, Colchester Co.; Matthew Teed, Truro; Luke Teed, Belmont Mountain, Colchester Co.; sister-in-law, Christina Carroll, Florence; brother-in-law, Ronald Carroll and wife Ruth, Kingston, Ont.; number of nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by daughter, Heather Geraldine Delaney in infancy. Cremation has taken place at the request of the deceased. Visitation this afternoon and this evening, Wimburn Masonic Lodge 75 AF and AM tribute service 7 p.m. today, Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 36, tribute service 7:30 p.m. today, all in Allen's Funeral Home, 60 Water St., Oxford. Funeral service 3 p.m. Sunday in Trinity United Church, Oxford, Rev. Dr. John W. King officiating. Burial in Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery. Donations Trinity United Church Memorial Fund, Oxford Pine Grove Cemetery Memorial Fund or a charity of choice.
