He was the son of the late Burton and Dell Fisher. Rupe will be sadly missed by his wife of 56 years, Mary Riddell, daughter, Freda, Ontario; son, Terry; daughter-in-law, Joan; granddaughters, Meaghan and Jenanne, all of Cole Harbour; brothers, Weldon, Truro; Leon, Middle Stewiacke; sisters, Freda (Mrs. Allen Sutherland) and Phyllis (Mrs. Elmer Sutherland). Rupe was a resident of Middle Stewiacke all his life with the exception of his five-years service overseas during the Second World War with the 13 Company Forestry Corps. After the war, he was employed with the Department of Lands and Forests in Shubenacadie for 37 years retiring in 1983. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion No. 26, Truro, a member of Middle Stewiacke United Church and a Scout leader for many years. In addition to being an avid curler and a member of the Brookfield Curling Club. Rupe also enjoyed gardening, traveling and camping. He was a friend to all and a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and neighbour. He was predeceased by brothers, Clarence, Gerald, Wilbert; sister, Helen McElhinney. Cremation has taken place. Visitation 7-9 pm today, August 11, in Colchester Community Funeral Home, Willow Street, Truro, with funeral service in Middle Stewiacke United Church on Saturday, August 12, at 2 pm.
