Weldon - 88, Truro and formerly of Brookfield, passed away October 28, 2002, in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Middle Stewiacke, he was a son of the late Burton and Della (Fleck) Fisher. Weldon was a retired carpenter with the Department of Natural Resources. He was a veteran of the Second World War and was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26. Weldon was also a member of Stewiacke Lodge 98 A.F.&A.M. He was a former District Deputy Grand Master and just recently he received his 50 year jewel. Weldon was a member of the Knox United Church, Brookfield, and was a former elder. He enjoyed an active retirement and loved dancing, bowling, traveling and Legion dinners. He is survived by sons, Robert (Gloria), Brookfield; Ian (Kathy), Hilden; grandchildren, Amy, Robin, Becky, Randal, Cindy; great-grandsons, Bailey, Nicholas; sisters, Freda and Phyllis Sutherland, both of Brookfield; brother, Leon, Middle Stewiacke; special friend, Florence Ogilvie, Truro; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Frances Banks; sister, Helen MacElhiney; brothers, Gerald, Burton, Clarence, Rupert. Visitation will be 6-9 p.m. Wednesday, with Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26, tribute at 7 p.m. and Stewiacke Lodge 98 A.F.& A.M. tribute service at 7:30 p.m., funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, all in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Burial in Brookfield Westside Cemetery. A reception to follow in Knox United Church Hall, Brookfield. Family flowers only. Donations in his memory to a charity of choice.
