  • Obituary: Marilyn Edith (Baumer) Haak, 75, of Port Wing died December 7, 2008 as she lived; with grace and peace, on her own terms and surrounded by love. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Ken, a submariner who died in 1944 while serving our country. Marilyn is survived by Avery, her loving and devoted husband of 53 years, daughters Anna (Dale) Lamb of Bloomington, Minn.; and Andrea (Jon) Hendrickson of Forest Lake, Minn.; grandchildren Matthew, Jacob and Isaac Hendrickson and Amy Lamb. She is also survived by her two sisters, Lorraine Armitage, Sarasota, Fla.; and Linda (Larry) Hodge, Spokane, Wash. and Phoenix, Ariz., as well as family and friends near and far. Marilyn was a nurse at the Hennepin County (Minneapolis) Crisis Intervention Center. She retired after nearly 25 years, the last of the original staff. She and Avery moved to Port Wing in 1995. She devoted her retirement to her family, volunteer activities, reading, and travel. Cancer only thinks it won. Her loving spirit will live on in all of us.
