  • Obituary: NICHOLS, Dr. Gerald Borden - Passed away peacefully on Friday, September 6, 2002, in Harold and Grace Baker Centre, Toronto, in his 88th year. Beloved husband of Marjorie Ruth (Hyson); father of Judith Ann, Lethbridge, Alta.; and the late Baby Douglas (1950); brother of Paul, Aylesford. He was predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W.L. Nichols (Aylesford); his sisters, Myrtle and Margaret, both of Nova Scotia. Dr. Nichols graduated from Dalhousie University on May 12, 1942, as a Doctor of Medicine and a Master of Surgery. He served in the R.C.A.F., and following discharge in 1946 joined in practice in Toronto with the late Dr. Clarence B. Crummey. The partnership ultimately became the Mount Dennis Medical Group. Dr. Nicols was instrumental in the establishment of the former Humber Memorial Hospital. He retired from active practice in 1983. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, September 12, in Mount Dennis United Church, 71 Guestville Ave. (a block south of Eglinton Ave. W. at Weston Road). In lieu of flowers, donations to a charity of your choice would be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to Morley Bedford Funeral Home.
