Notes

  • Obituary: Dorothy 'Jean' Moltzen - 91, Truro. Jean left us on Saturday, January 14, 2012, to be with her Heavenly Father. Throughout her 91 years Jean never faltered in her faith and always held onto a lifelong desire to serve as a missionary working in the field for the less fortunate. She loved to have family around her, as she did right up until her final moments, and she also demonstrated her trademark determination, fighting the courageous last fight to the very end before peace finally came to her. Jean was born in Debert, where she lived until 1957, when she moved with her family to Truro. From 1964 until 1987, she lived in California before returning to Truro for her remaining years. Jean loved to sew, bake and travel but one of her absolute favourite passions was fishing. She worked at several jobs throughout her life but her primary role was one of homemaker. She was always very active in her church and many community groups and also loved to teach Sunday school. After returning to Truro in 1987, Jean lived in her own home in Valley until various medical ailments prompted the need for more constant care and she relocated to Cedarstone Enhanced Care in Truro. Jean was much loved and will be greatly missed. She is survived by her children, Ardith McLean-Chaisson (David), Bible Hill; Richard McLean (Sharon), Bible Hill; Donna Phillips (Bob) California; step-brother, Harry Taylor, Truro; grandchildren, Norman Crowell (Margie), Antigonish, Debbie Stewart (Harry), Pictou; Sandra (Don), California; great grandchildren, Paul Stewart, Saskatchewan; Laura Stewart, Florida; Kelly Watson, Masstown; Sandra Phillips, California; numerous nieces, nephews and great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Carrie (Carter) Taylor; first husband, Wilfred (Tom) McLean; second husband, Harry Moltzen; grandson, Todd Richard McLean; great granddaughter, Lindsay Jean Stewart; sisters, Margaret McDorman, Violet Simpson; brothers, Courtney, Herman, David and Lloyd Taylor; step-mother, Emily Taylor. A private graveside service for family and close friends will be held in the spring at Bible Hill Cemetery. If so desired, donations in Jean's memory to Immanuel Baptist Church (Designated to Missions Fund) are welcomed.
