Notes

  • Obituary: SPINNEY, Gordon Harris ~ Age 93, of Kingston, Kings Co, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2019, in Grand View Manor, Berwick. Born on September 10, 1926, in Nicholsville, Kings Co, he was a son of the late Alfred and Elizabeth (Sarsfield) Spinney. Gordon's working career spans seven decades. Each change in his career path was for the betterment of the family. He began at an early age by hauling supplies to the lumber camp kitchen with a team of oxen graduating to a team of horses and yarding logs for E.R. McMaster & Sons. Then Gordon went on as farm labourer for Lorimer Woodbury. He was also a store clerk and delivery driver at Kingston Trading Company. Gordon then bought a farm in West Paradise. To sustain the farm he took on jobs such as dozer operator, dump truck operator, horse trader, TV antenna installer, and even Coop store manager. After the farm and a new house in Greenwood Square he went onto plumbing, heating and electrical for Western Kings Hardware in Kingston. Next, Gordon spent a brief time as Maintenance Tech at CFB Greenwood, then picking apples in the U.S.A. After doing some plumbing, heating and electrical for E.R. McMaster & Sons, he operated Gordon Spinney Electrical. Gordon finally finished off his working career in the C.E. Electrical Shop at 14 Wing Greenwood. He was a past member of the Kingston Lions Club and attended the Kingston United Church. Gordon loved to go to horse pulls, and touring the countryside and chatting with people.
