Emily was born in White Plains, NY, on August 13, 1931. She was a daughter of the late Rose Mary Metzler and Edward Percy Metzler. She grew up in Fall River, and lived there most of her life. She worked at Bob McDonald Chev Olds earlier in her career and Dalrymple Insurance until she retired. Emily had many passions and volunteering in the community was one of them. She was a lifelong member of St. Rose of Lima, she belonged to the Catholic Women's League, Senior Citizens Friendly Group, LWF Ladies Auxiliary, Fall River Historical Society and the Red Hatters. Emily was proud that the Metzler Family donated the land and helped build the LWF Community Hall. In her younger years, Emily played lots of sports and was a player on the Windsor Junction White Wings Softball Team. She enjoyed spending time in her garden with her friends and family. Emily could be seen walking around the village and enjoyed socializing with her neighbours. She enjoyed doing many crafts and decorating her home for the holidays. Emily will be sadly missed by her family and friends - past and present, including her furry friends, Boston and Archie. She is survived by husband, Harold "Hallie"; sons, Barry (Margo), Ross, Paul; sisters, Rosemarie and Dianne; grandchildren, Garry, Scott, Amanda, Samantha, Danny; and many nieces and nephews. Emily was predeceased by her parents, Rose and Percy; sisters, Frances, Laverne, Gloria, Lillian; and brothers, Edward and Richard. Cremation has taken place. A funeral service will be held Thursday, November 23 at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, Fall River, with Father Duncan MacMaster officiating, followed by a Celebration of Life in LWF Community Hall from 12:30-3:30 p.m. Interment will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
