Notes

  • Obituary: 61, Enfield, passed away April 29, 2004, at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Brentwood, Colchester Co., she was a daughter of the late Jean (Belmore) and Percy Stevens. Ruth was a devoted Elder of Riverview United Church, Elmsdale. She was honored with life membership in the UCW, in which she was a very active member. One of her greatest joys was leading the "Tuesday Afternoon Study Group" at Riverview and watching so many of her "girls" grow in their faith. Ruth's faith was the guiding force in all that she did in her family, the community and the church. She lived what she professed and we who knew her have been blessed by her life. Ruth loved gardening and sharing many of her "fresh vegetables" and favorite perennials with friends and neighbors. Grammie also enjoyed and supported sports, especially hockey, in which her grandsons participate. Ruth is survived by her loving husband of 40 years, Alfred "Al"; daughter, Susan (Derek), Calgary, Alta.; sons, Stephen (Tawny), Bedford; Blair (Beth), Truro; David (Sandi), New Glasgow; grandsons, Mitchell, Andrew, Connor and Thomas; sister, Helen (Lloyd) Bogle, Stewiacke; brothers, Roland Stevens and Donald (Bonnie) Stevens, both of Truro. She was predeceased by her brothers, Arnold and Aubrey.
