  • Obituary: Halifax Herald 9/11/2004 **************************************** DALRYMPLE, Lloyd Gordon - 72, Lower Sackville, passed away September 9, 2004, in QEII Health Sciences Centre, Halifax. Born in Lower Sackville, he was the eldest son of Gordon and Mabel (Whitford) Dalrymple. As a young man he was employed at Schultz and Hankey Garage for over 20 years. Later he became self-employed as owner and operator of Lloyd Dalrymple's Shell and Ultramar (Gulf) service stations in both Bedford and Sackville where he greeted his customer with the personal touch he so believed in. Upon retirement, he worked part-time as a crosswalk guard. Lloyd's work was his best hobby. He was a founding member of the Sackville Volunteer Fire Department and the Sackville Kinsman Club, a social member of the Bedford Branch Legion No. 95 and a member of the Acadia Hall Recreation Club. He is survived by his devoted wife of 48 years, Sylvia (Woods); daughters, Brenda (Rick) Surette, Harrietsfield; Glenda (Ross) White, Beaver Bank; grandsons, Devin and Dawson White; stepgrandson, Nicholas; brothers, Harold (Emily), Fall River; Carl (Louise), Wayne (Carolyn) Phillip, Lower Sackville; sister-in-law, Marilyn Woods-Cameron; brother-in-law, Hector Cameron; mother-in-law, Marie Woods Williams and her husband James Williams; nephews, Ross, Paul, Barry, Eric, Marty, Keith, Kevin and Gary; nieces, Gail, Heather and Tracy, and many cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother in infancy and father-in-law Frederick Woods. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday in T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, 527 Sackville Dr., Lower Sackville. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday in Knox United Church, Lower Sackville, with reception to follow. Private family burial will take place at a later date in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Donations may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
