Notes

  • Occupation: Fry Cadbury
  • Obituary: Woodworth: Marion Christena, 83, of Brentwood passed away Friday, February 12, 2010. Born in Earltown, she was the youngest child of Rod and Barbara (MacLeod) Murray. A graduate of Truro Academy and Success Business College, she worked at Fry Cadburys until her marriage to William (Bill) in 1946. Her main focus then became her family. Busy raising her children and operating a home-based egg business, she still found time to sew, garden, work at elections, help her neighbors and canvass for both the Heart and Stroke Foundation and Diabetes Society. She spent countless, pleasurable hours sitting her grandchildren and grand pets, serving suppers with Unit #2 UCW of Knox United, and selling poppies with the Ladies Auxiliary of the Truro Legion # 26. Marion loved doing crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed card parties, seniors' bowling, bingo, parades, and meeting friends at social events of The War Widows/Widowers group. She will be deeply missed by her children, Cheryl (Brian McKillop), Beaver Bank; Ross (Norma), Lewis Lake; Eileen Sutherland, Brookfield; Scott (Jackie MacNeil), Truro; son-in-law, Greg Sutherland, Brookfield; 6 grandchildren, Troy and Brad (Megan) Sutherland, Diane (Mike Chute) Woodworth, Lisa (Scot) Frazee, Daniel and Ashley McKillop; 3 great-grandsons, Tristen and Rylan Sutherland and Wilson Frazee; brother, Ken (June) Murray; sister-in-law, Margie Kennedy. Predeceased by her husband Bill; daughter, Jean Elizabeth Sutherland; son-in-law, Lynn Sutherland; brother, Allister; sister, Sybil. The family thank the caregivers at The Ponds especially Donna who always brightened Mum's day, the VON, and palliative nurse Dawn Martell for their support, encouragement and dedication. Visitation will be held 7-9pm Monday, February 15, and funeral service 2:30pm Tuesday, February 16, all in the Mattatall ~ Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street Truro, Rev. Larry Harrison officiating with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Interment to be held at a later date in the Brookfield Westside Cemetery. Family flowers only.
