  • Obituary: Woodworth, Douglas Robinson 83, Truro, passed away in Colchester Regional Hospital on September 23, 2009. Born in Milford, N.S., he was a son of the late Charles and Josephine Woodworth. Doug worked on the Section for Canadian National Railways for 40 years. His home was his sanctuary and the place that he was happiest. He was an expert gardener, a big Blue Jays fan and a skilled card player, especially poker, where his steady hand and countenance earned him the nickname "Cement" with his many friends. He adored his Siamese cats Jeremy and Twiggy. Doug was a strong believer in conservation and recycling, long before they were popular with the public. Nothing in his house was ever wasted and when he died he was still driving his 1980 Buick. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Bernice; three step-sons, William, John and David Gauld; son-in-law, Jack Miller. He will be sadly missed by daughters, Lynne Miller, Truro, Bonnie (Dan Leger) Woodworth, Halifax; sister, Margaret Kennedy, Truro; grandchildren, Matthew (Michelle) Miller, Truro, Christopher Miller, Toronto, Claire and Zoe Leger, Halifax. The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses of Colchester Regional Hospital for their care and support. There will be no visitation by request. Funeral service will be held on Sunday, September 27 at 2:30 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow St., Truro with Rev. David Lutes officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice. On-line condolences to: www. colchestercommunity.com
