  • Obituary: she was a daughter of the late James Henry and Anna Elizabeth (McCurdy) Woodworth. After graduating from Provincial Normal School in 1924, she taught in a number of schools in Nova Scotia. Later, she had an active life in music education as a school music teacher, piano teacher and church choir director. For many years she directed the young people of Milford in classes of Hants County Music Festival in Windsor and Shubenacadie. In 1948, she founded the Milford Girls' Choir of Milford United Church, which she directed for 25 years and was instrumental in organizing many church choir festivals. She was a charter member of Nova Scotia Music Educators Association and retired from Hants East Rural High School. He was a member of Hants East Historical Society; had a keen interest in genealogy and researched family, church and commmuity history. Several of her articles were published in Nova Scotia Historical Quarterly. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Doane, Halifax; sons, David and wife, Margaret (Jakeman), Milford; Alfred and wife Ruth (Stevens), Enfield; Edwin and wife Norma (Shaw), Elora, Ont.; William and wife Carole (Mark), Hampton, N.B.; 17 grandchildren; 15 greatgrandchildren; sisters-in-law, Isabell and Frances Wallace, both of West Gore; Dorothy Woodworth, Tantallon; brother-in-law, George MacDonald, Bible Hill. She was predeceased by her husband, Ernest Leslie; sisters, Lizzie McCurdy, Mary Lorton, Agnes Lewis, Evelyn Woodworth, Florence Statham, Edith MacDonald; brothers, James, John, Frederick, Herbert, Edwin in infancy.
