She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Angus; parents, Fred and Helen (Allen) Hardie; sisters, Betty Hicks, Violet Newcombe and Shirley MacKenzie; brother, William "Billie". Surviving are her daughters, Peggy Halverson (Keith); Penny Brownell (Gord), both of Tatamagouche; sons, Darrell Carty (Dea), Amherst; John (Gwen), Malagash; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. She loved to play bingo and cards, loved family get togethers and also enjoyed coffee and tea with friends. She was a member of Malagash Community Club, Malagash United Church and a life member of Munro Memorial UCW. Visiting hours will be held today, 6 to 9 p.m. in Coulter's Funeral Home (657-3288) 48 Riverside Dr., P.O. Box 190, Tatamagouche, N.S. B0K 1V0. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 14, 2008 in Malagash United Church, Rev. Morley Bentley officiating. Burial will be in Miner's Cemetery, Malagash. Family flowers only by request.
