  • Obituary: RIVERTON - Eve Helen Mingo, of the Valley View Villa, Riverton, formerly of 154 Willow Avenue, New Glasgow, passed away Friday, Oct. 5, in the Villa. Born in North Battleford, Saskatchewan, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Drummond and Effie (Hamilton) Shepley. She attended the University of Saskatchewan for one year and was a graduate of Teacher's College in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. She spent thee years teaching school and then decided to be a nurse and took her training at the Royal Alex Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta, graduating in 1938. She joined the Royal Canadian Medical Corp in January 1944. She served in England, Belgium and Holland returning to Canada in 1946. She met her future husband when in England and Holland and they were married in October 1946. She was a member of the Trinity United Church and was active in the church in her younger years. She loved music and dancing and was an avid duplicate and social bridge player. She read very widely and loved to travel. She was a very kind and loving person and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. Surviving is her husband of 56 years, Ernest Mingo, and her son, Donald and his wife Dr. Aulayne Jeans-Mingo and four grandchildren; Rebecca, Christy, Katie and Sarah; sister, Jean (Shepley) Larmour, Regina, Saskatchewan, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a daughter Jean Elizabeth Mingo-Doiron (age 43) and by a brother, John Shepley and a sister, Marjorie (Shepley) Gordon. Visitation 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the R. H. Porter Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity United Church with Rev. Norman Marple and Lori Crocker D. M. officiating. Burial in Holy Trinity Anglican Church Cemetery, Denmark, Colchester County. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Society or a charity of choice.
