Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Albert and Agnes (Cottam) Frame. Donnie worked hard his whole life. At the age of 16, he worked for Acadia Construction as a heavy equipment operator, followed by employment at National Gypsum, as a heavy equipment operator and then as a welder. In 1979, Donnie started his own welding business in Milford, which operated for 13 years. Donnie worked for many companies in the province, including Shaw Resources, Westminer Canada Ltd. in Gays River and Tidewater Construction, eventually ending his career operating heavy equipment on the Cobequid Pass project. Donnie and Frances lived in Milford where they raised their 3 daughters and they later built their dream home in Gay's River, on family property, where they lived for 30 years. Donnie was a very active member of both the Gays River and Milford-Lantz United Churches. He was also active in his community, attending card parties and supporting church functions. An avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, his tractor, producing maple syrup and spending time at his treasured cottage in Cape John. He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 59 years, Frances (Scothorn), daughters Marianne (Mike) Toombs, Guelph, Ontario; Connie (Mike) Isenor and Gail (Darrell) Coldwell, Gay's River; grandchildren Alex Isenor, Myles and Marlee Coldwell, Laura and Richard Toombs, and shared family dog, Sophie; sister Linda Clarke, Bible Hill, sisters-in-law, Norma Howlett, Eleanor Frame and Jean Scothorn, brother-in-law John(Gail) Scothorn, numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sister, Doris Lake and a brother, Lorne Frame. Cremation has taken place. A visitation will be held 6-8pm Thursday at the Ettinger Funeral Home, Shubenacadie from where a funeral service will be held 2:30pm Friday November 17, Rev. Martin Reid officiating. Reception to follow in the funeral home hospitality area. A private family committal will be held in Gays River Cemetery. The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the staff of Vimy Court who welcomed Donnie with open arms and provided outstanding care until his passing.
