Obituary: Enfield, NH \endash Barbara J. Dow, 95, passed away peacefully on Saturday January 6th, 2024. She was born in Norway, Maine to the late Howard & Doris (Haskell) Davis. She graduated from Towle High School in Newport, NH. Barbara was married to Richard Dow on October 6th, 1950. They settled in Enfield and soon began their family raising four children. Barbara wore many hats as a mother, working alongside her husband in the family business, on the Enfield Fast Squad for twenty-seven years and working several years for the US Postal Service. Both she and her husband made wonderful memories traveling throughout the US (which included an unplanned, brief hitchhiking stint on the Alcan Highway) as well as to many different countries. They spent lots of time camping, canoeing, cross-country skiing, sailing and kayaking. In 2012, she received the Micah Award from the Community Lutheran Church in honor of her many volunteer activities. Barbara is survived by three children Marjorie Chase (Bill), Robert Dow and Andrea Dow, a brother Albert Davis, three grandchildren Melissa, Rebecca and Brian, three great grandchildren Cory, Evan and Emily, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, daughter Linda Wilson Blanchard, brother Howard Davis and sister Patricia Cote. Family and friends are invited to Barbara's celebration of life at the Union Church of Enfield Center on Saturday, January 20th at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to the F.A.S.T.
