  • Obituary: NORTH ATTLEBORO - Richard B. Wall, 80, of Broad way, an active member of the North Attleboro community, died Wednesday in Sturdy Memorial Hospital. He was the widower of Marian (Fisher) Wall. Born in Attleboro on Dec. 3, 1922, he was the son of the late Lester and Gladys (Brown) Wall. He was a lifelong North Attleboro resident, and a 1941 graduate of North Attleboro High School. He had also graduated from the Nelson Air craft School of Smithfield, R.I., and the Navy Aircraft Mechan ics School, Chicago, Ill. Mr. Wall was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation mechanics mate. He founded Walls Sale & Service Co., in 1945, which he operated for 34 years. He had also repaired and sold Hudson Automobiles for eight years, and had been a real estate entrepreneur. He had served as treasurer of Old Farm Realty. An active member of the community, Mr. Wall had been appointed to fill a vacancy on the North Attleboro Board of Public Works in 1974, and had been elected to that office in 1975, 1977, and 1980, serving until his term expired in 1983. Mr. Wall was a charter member, life member, and past president of the Independent Sportsman Club of Foxboro, a member and past president of the North Attleboro/Plainville Rotary Club, and honored as a Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International in 1985. He was a life member and past commander of AMVETS, Lorden Hall Post 65, a member of the Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association, member of the Stone Street Summers, and former director of the Bungay Lake Association. Mr. Wall was the former director of the New England Coin Laundry and Cleaning Association, a former member of the National Carwash Council, and a former member of the National Automatic Laun dry and Cleaning Council. He was a member of the Grace Episcopal Church. He is survived by his children, Richard Wall Jr. of North Attleboro, Candace Newbury of North Attleboro and David Wall of Norton; a brother, Pemberton Wall of Pensacola, Fla.; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild. He was the brother of the late Lester Wall. A funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the Grace Epis copal Church, 104 North Wash ington St. Arrangements are by the Sperry & McHoul Funeral Home, 15 Grove St., North Attleboro.
