Obituary: Beckwith, James Calvin \endash 82 of Dartmouth. Passed away peacefully October 30, 2010. Born in Westville he was the son of the late James and Bessie (Rundle) Beckwith. Calvin worked in the insurance business for over 50 years and was a long time member of Woodlawn United Church. He was very active in volunteering especially for the Canadian Cancer Society, the Salvation Army Kettle Program and he was a member of the Kiwanis. He received the Queens Jubilee Medal for outstanding Volunteering, he was an avid Toronto Maple Leaf fan and a friend to many in his community. He will be greatly missed. He is survived by his devoted wife of 56 years Merna; daughters Sandra Beckwith, LeHave; Karen Harding, Hamilton, ON; Linda (Terry) Denyes, Brighton, ON; Bonnie (David) Lucas, Dartmouth; Brenda (Robert) Currie, Fall River; Nancy (Terrell) Killen, Millet, AB; brothers William (Sylvia), Toronto; Ralston (Mona), Ottawa; and 18 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son in-law David Harding and grandson Isaac Lucas. Visitation will be 6-8 PM today in A. L. Mattatall Funeral Home 217 Portland St., Memorial Service will be 2 PM Wednesday November 3, in Woodlawn United Church. Rev. Phillip Kennedy officiating. Burial will take place in Auburn Cemetery, in Westville at a later date. Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Heart and Stroke Foundation.
