Born on August 2, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Mary (Wheeler) Kerr. Our Mary Lou was devoted, loving, quick-witted and she always kept us laughing. She was a creative person that loved to sew, knit, crochet and bake. While our hearts are broken, we are so happy she was at her farm surrounded by love when she passed. Anyone that knew Mary Lou knew that they were important to her. No matter what she was always ready with a smile and a laugh and honest advice. We felt the love in her hugs and saw her love reflected in her constant support. Her unconditional love for all of her grandchildren was incomparable. She always made time for anyone, and she loved the visits from her friends. She very much enjoyed coffee with the girls. When Mary Lou moved to Pictou, she was the Admitting Clerk at the Pictou Hospital and then moved to the Aberdeen Hospital where she was the ICU Ward Clerk up until her retirement. She was an active long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 16, Ladies Auxiliary of the Scotsburn Volunteer Fire Department and member of the Catholic Women's League. Mary Lou was the beloved wife, partner and best friend of the late Keith Swantee, who was the love of her life. She is survived by her daughter, Catherine (Dewayne) and their son, Matthew; son, Thomas (Renee) and their children, Steven and Ian; stepdaughter, Kim (Jim), and their children, Nick, Raegan and Connor; her stepson, Sandy (Barb) and his children, Rhyan and Mason; her brothers, John (Ann), James (Lalia) and their son, Stephen and daughter, Jaime; Michael and his children, Andrew, Jacqueline and Danielle; and her sister, Clare. Mary Lou was predeceased by her grandson, Nicholas Falconer. There will be a service at Stella Maris Catholic Church on Thursday July 7th at 11 a.m. with a reception to follow at the Stella Maris Catholic Church Hall.
