Obituary: Sponagle, Michael Owen, 70, Goldboro, Guysborough Co., NS, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 5, 2020. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Frank and Alice (Delaney) Sponagle. Mike drove for Bartlett's Ambulance and later retired from NS Correctional Services at the former Colchester Correctional Centre. After his retirement, he moved to Goldboro to be near the water and woods to pursue his passion for hunting, fishing and riding trails on his ATV. Mike was also an avid fan of NHRA, NASCAR and Blue Jays baseball. He was an Associate Member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 26 Truro.
Mike is survived by his wife of 49 years, Gloria (Gosbee) Sponagle, Truro/Goldboro; daughter, Leslie Ann (Peter) Holt (Punky as he called her), Bocabec, NB.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased most recently by his brother Garth in 2020.
In keeping with his wishes, there will be no visitation or formal funeral service. A private family burial will take place at the Hilden Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro.
