  • Obituary: M. Beryl Gay \endash 95, Truro, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 5, 2025, at Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late Alexander "Sandy" and Alice (Gahan) Geddes. Beryl was employed by the Colchester Regional Hospital for more than twenty years. She was also a member of Brunswick Street United Church. She liked getting people together for family reunions and special times. An avid card player all of her life, she enjoyed playing bridge, 45s and crib right up until the time of her death. Beryl is survived by her sons, Mike Gay, Bedford; Bob (Mary) Gay, Bible Hill; grandchildren, Krista (Scott) MacRae, Bedford; Brian (Cindi) Gay, Enfield; Laura Gay (Avi Gleek), Richmond Hill, Ontario; Kevin Gay (Gabriela), Riobamba, Ecuador; great grandchildren, True Patter (George), Truro; Brock MacRae, Bedford; Will Gay, Enfield. Along with her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William "Bill" Charles Gay; daughter-in-law, Susan Gay; siblings, Bill Geddes, Betty Lindsay, Heather White. Beryl was a cherished mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her love is a light that never fades, a legacy of love that shines forever. Her positive benevolent spirit, laughter and hugs will be missed more than words can say. Family would like to thank the staff of Cedarstone Enhanced Care for their kindness, compassion and professionalism over the last six years. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mattatall \endash Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro, where Beryl's family will receive friends from 3-6 p.m., Friday, May 16, 2025. Interment will be held at a later date in Crossroads Cemetery, 110 Salmon River Road, Valley. If so desired, donations in Beryl's memory to Brunswick Street United Church or Cedarstone Enhanced Care, Truro are welcomed.
