Obituary: Laurie, Ruby Margaret - Age 75 of Tatamagouche, passed away on February 16, 2017 in Lillian Fraser Memorial Hospital, with Jessie and Angie by her side. Born on August 6, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Melvin and Beatrice (Stevenson) Laurie. Marg lived all of her life at the home place on the Upper River John Road until moving to the village three and a half years ago. Margaret spent the last two years at Maplewood Manor in Tatamagouche and all of the staff there held a special place in her heart. Margaret loved collecting pictures of her family and friends, and liked her magazines, candy from the drug store, wine, Labatts Blue beer, her soap operas, animals, her collection of owls and her daily visits to the village. Margaret is survived by her nieces, Kathy MacKay (Doug Tattrie), Brenda Laurie and Angie Hupman (Ron); nephews, Dennis MacKay (Dana), Mark MacKay (Tammy) and Richard Laurie.
Grand nieces and nephews, Ashlie Laurie, Shauna Tattrie (Edward Blaxland), Kelli Saulnier (Marc Saulnier) and Melissa MacBurnie (Chris), Brandon Laurie (Morgan Langille) and Justin Tattrie; great-grand nieces and nephews, Caden Laurie, Noah and Bella MacBurnie and Juliette Saulnier and Samantha MacKay; sister-in-law, Jessie Laurie; brother-in-law, Willard MacKay; half-brother, Orland MacPherson, Eliot, Maine, USA; special cousin, Dale Swan.
Margaret was predeceased by her sister, Vera MacKay; brothers Jimmie, Charlie, Archie and John. Cremation has taken place under the direction of Coulter's Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. A celebration of Margaret's life will be held this summer with burial to be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Denmark. Memorial donations to the SPCA of Colchester or a charity of one's choice would be appreciated. The family gives thanks to Maplewood Manor, Tatamagouche Hospital, Dr. Rob Bush and Martha Underwood for their great care and compassion shown to Margaret.
