Phinney, at the age of 78 years. He had been in ill health for the past three years. He was born at West Bay, Cumberland Co., April 9, 1875, only son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John Phinney. He was a member of the L.O.L. Lodge in New Glasgow. Surviving are three sons, James at home; Stewart in New Glasgow; and Luthern in Somerset, Kings County; also twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren. His wife, the former Grace Webb predeceased him in 1912. The funeral service was conducted by Rev. J. Knowles, pastor of the United Church, Bass River. They hymns sung were favorites of the deceased, "Will Your Anchor Hold," "Goodnight and Good Morning", and "Abide With Me." The pall bearers were Harry Davis, Allan Davis, John Boyd, Basil Davis, Alton Yorke and Hollis Yorke. Interment was at the Baptist Cemetery, Five Islands.
