Notes

  • Obituary: July 15, 1936 - August 29, 2012 Cameron, Verna Marie (Tattrie) "Nan/Other Nanny" -76, French River, Colchester County. It is with the heaviest and saddest of hearts that we announce the passing of our most incredible mother, grandmother and great grandmother on August 29, 2012. Verna was the daughter of the late Lester and Cassie (Weatherbee) Tattrie and was born and raised in French River, where she lived her entire life. She worked outside of the home in the 1970s for a short time at Harry's Green Grocery and Cunningham's Nursing Home in Tatamagouche. However, her life long career was being a mother, which she was the very best, especially when it came to Arden's care. She was a nurturer of so many, a strong shoulder to all, and a true friend to anyone who called upon her. Verna was among the most avid of knitters and crocheters and really enjoyed a good book. She enjoyed making crafts and sharing her beautiful creations with others. Her pride and joy was her vast collection of 15000 sets of salt and pepper shakers, but Verna's main passion was her family, whom she shared a great deal of time with and enjoyed being surrounded by. She is survived by daughters Debbie (Brendon) Ferguson, Emily (Allan) Cock, Velda (Keith Weatherbie), sons Darren (Joanne) and Arden; grandchildren Stacy (Wes), Jamie, Kyle (Chrissy), Devan (Joe), Katie, Ryan (Lindsey), Cassie, Darci, Karla (Laurie);great grandchildren Connor, Courtney, Marcus and Nick; sisters Laura (Bernie), Emma Jean, Audrey; brothers Freeman(Janet), Elroy (Shirley), Gary (Jean), Phillip (Tammy), Ronald; brother in law Gerald, many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Austin, daughters Catherine and Heather, brother, Harry and sisters Lillias, Ruby and an infant sister. Visitation will be held from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday, September 5, 2012, at Coulter's Funeral Home, 48 Riverside Drive, Tatamagouche (657-3288). The funeral will be held at the Sharon United Church, Tatamagouche on Wednesday, September 6, 2012 at 2 p.m. with Chuck Paterson DLM officiating, followed by a private family interment in the French River Cemetery, Fellowship and celebration of life to follow at Emily and Allan's house at 300 Lake Road. Donations in memory may be made to the French River Cemetery. Online condolences can be forwarded by visiting the funeral home website at: www.mmcfunerals.com
