Born in Amherst, NS, he was a son of the late Leon "Pinky" and Dorothy Burke. Jim worked for many years at Terris Pharmacy in Amherst and also worked with Phillip Burke as an electrician. He was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs fan and never missed watching a game. He loved spending time with his family, his animals and enjoyed listening to music. Jim is survived by his children, John (Andrea), Leon (Janey), DJ (Robbie), Brent (Jolene), Sandi (Jeff) and Bruce all of Amherst; 17 grandchildren, Amy, Marley, Scott, Sarah, Christopher, Samantha, Eragon, Arwen, Hayden, Leigh, Riece, Issac, Logan, Jessa, Shane, Jasmin and Joyce; 16 great grandchildren; as well as extended family. Besides his parents, Jim was predeceased by his wife, Linda in 2022. The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Gables Lodge for their excellent care during Dads stay. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Campbell's Funeral Home, 98 Church Street, Amherst, NS. A graveside service will take place on Saturday October 5, 2024 at 11am with Father Anthony Aguka officiating held in the St. Charles \endash Nativity Cemetery.
