Colpitts, age 85, died at the North Shore Medical Center in Salem on Sunday, January 5th after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Betty (Dougherty) Colpitts with whom he had shared 37 years of marriage. Born and raised in Lynn, Mr. Colpitts was the son of the late Edith Wetherbee Colpitts. Gerald was the Executive VP for New England Stores for 32 years retiring in 1993. He was a graduate of Lynn English Class of 1953 and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Colpitts is survived by three children, Gerald A. Colpitts and his wife Laurie of Plymouth, NH, Jeanette Z. Karolides of Merrimack, NH, Joanne L. Colpitts of Port St. Lucie, FL; one grandson, Victor Bramante and his wife Amanda of FL; two great grandchildren, Halley and Madilyn; one brother, Donald Colpitts of Lynn; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was also the former husband of Janet (Ostrowski) Colpitts. He was predeceased by three brothers and three sisters.
