  • Obituary: Mills, Douglas H. '96 76, of East Mapleton, Cumberland County passed away Saturday, May 13, 2006 at Cumberland Regional Health Center, Upper Nappan. Born in Economy, he was a son of the late Oliver and Alma (Knight) Mills. He served with the Canadian Army for many years as a paratrooper. Following his military service, he was a heavy equipment operator. He was a member of Legion Branch #17, Springhill and a member of the Mapleton United Church. He is survived by his step son, Frederick Meyers (Lisa), Parrsboro; half sisters, Vonnie Mills, Springhill; Myrna Bell, Onslow; half brothers, Ronald Mills, Parrsboro; Leslie Mills, Golding, B.C.; Robert Mills, South Brook; Wilfred Mills, Sackville, N.B.; Lloyd Mills, East Mapleton; several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, the former Clementine Willigar; step-mother, Marguerite (Moore) Mills; half sister, Cecelia Marie. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday, May 15, 2006 at Smith's Funeral Home, Parrsboro, Rev. Mark Pretty officiating. Burial in the Economy Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the Mapleton United Church or to a charity of choice.
