OBITUARY:
Niles, Rufus Edward - 75, 1 Terrace St., Amherst, died Sunday in Highland View Regional Hospital, Amherst. Born in Port Elgin, N.B., he was a son of the late Rufus and Nancy (Crossman) Niles. He was a well-known canterman, employed in lumbermills throughout Westmorland County, N.B., and in Cumberland County. He was a member of Nativity of Our Lady Roman Catholic Church, Amherst. He is survived by his second wife, the former Gladys Smith; a daughter, Kay Delaney, Hilden, Colchester County; a son, Edward, Hilden; a sister, Grace Blanche, Portland, Me.; a foster daughter, Sharon (Mrs.
Allison Wilson), Judicure, N.B.; two brothers, Arthur, Leo, both of Port Elgin; eight grandchildren; a great grandson. He was predeceased by an infant son; three sisters, Sarah, Helen, Emma; two brothers, Walter, Robert.
The body is in Furlong's Funeral Home, Amherst, visiting 7-9 p.m., today, 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Prayers will be held at the funeral home 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday in Nativity of Our Lady Church, Father David MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in Saint Charles Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the charity of choice.
