Born in Truro, she was a daughter of Ronald K. McKinley, Bedford and the late Geneva (Millard) McKinley and stepmother, Mona McKinley. She went through high school in Truro and then Success Business College, Truro. Karen worked in Hamilton, Ont. for about 10 years. She played the piano, wrote music and poetry and played music for seniors. She was a friend and companion to many cats. Surviving are sister, Susan (Mike) Gay, Lower Sackville; brothers, Randy, Truro; Danny, New Glasgow; stepsister, Debbie (Jim) Horwich, Bedford; stepbrother, Mike Bradley (Verna), Truro; companion, Al Simms; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral service 2 p.m. Monday in T.K. Barnard Funeral Home, 1216 Bedford Hwy., Bedford, Rev. Arthur Cuzner officiating. Interment will take place in Truro at a later date. Family flowers only.
