Mrs. Meade was a bookkeeper for the former Lynn Gas and Electric Co. from 1944 to 1951. She later worked at the family business, the former Baldwin Piano Center in Peabody, until 1990. Born in Lynn, she graduated from Swampscott High School. She was a communicant of the Our Lady Star of the Sea Church and a member of the Mother's Club. She is survived by her husband, Thomas P. Meade; two sons, Peter L. Meade of Danvers and T. Jeffrey Meade of Merrimack; her father, Ira R. Laxton of Haverhill; three sisters, Martha C. Tanch of Swampscott, M. Ann Nestor of Peabody and Constance Krupski of Brownfield, Maine; a brother, Ira C. Laxton of Swampscott and two grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Gladys (Curtis) Laxton [sic, Margaretta Frances Curtis]. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Arland Dirlam Memorial Chapel.
