Dudley was born in Sayre, Oklahoma, the son of Dudley Drake Sr. and Edna Drake, and moved to Los Banos as a young boy and later attended Fresno State, where he met his wife of fifty-two years, Susan Lunney. Dudley dedicated over twenty years to the US Navy, combining active duty and reserves. His extensive career at State Farm forged lasting connections, and he actively engaged in Rotary, holding roles such as club president, leader of service trips to Mexico and running Camp Royal/RYLA, a leadership camp for high schoolers. Dudley also volunteered at the California State Railroad Museum in Old Sacramento, where he took particular delight narrating the popular Polar Express train. As a devoted father, Dudley wore many hats as a coach, Scout Master and chauffeur. His grandchildren cherish memories of his love for crime novels, Star Wars, and lively support at their events. Dudley, often seen walking his cocker spaniel, Buddy, was a familiar presence in his neighborhood up until his passing. He also enjoyed long bike rides in Stockton and Green Valley, Arizona, where he and Susan spent winters. Preceded in death by his wife, Susan and father, Dudley Sr. Dudley is survived by his mother, Edna Drake of Bakersfield, California; sons, Brian Drake (Elizabeth) of Melbourne, Florida, and Steven Drake (Esther) of Danville, California; three grandchildren, Darren, Allison, and Connor; and siblings, Robert, Dan, Phil, and Deborah.
