  • Obituary: Doris H Gillman of Brunswick Maine passed away peacefully at her home on 8 June 2016 surrounded by her son Herbert and her youngest daughter MaryAnn. She lived a full life for 92 ½ years. She graduated from Otterbein College and worked as a social worker in the 1950's. Later in life she worked as a substitute teacher, served on the school board, was selectman and as a bookkeeper. Doris and her family lived in Brunswick, Maine until 1963 when they relocated to Vermont. After retirement, Doris and her husband Herb returned to Brunswick in 1987. She was warm and generous soul and a volunteer for many noteworthy causes. She loved to read and do crossword puzzles and cryptograms to "keep her mind sharp". She was a life long, avid bridge player. Doris was the eldest daughter of Marion Elihu Hotchkiss and Louisa May Agnew. Doris outlived her brother Donald Hotchkiss and sister Eleanor Frame. She is survived by five children, three grandchildren and five great grandchildren and as she was fond of saying "cousin by the dozens". Doris was the loving Mom to Sally (John Grubman), Patsy (Joe) Johnston, Herbert III, Steve (Mary) and MaryAnn (Jim) Hutchcraft. She was the cherished grandmother to Jeanna Bonello, Doria (Paul) Ferrante, and Drew (Zuliema) Gillman. She was also the special Great Grandma to Rocco, Mario, Dominic and Leo Ferrante and Bensen Gillman.
