She was preceded in death by her parents, Irwin and Lottie McCan; husband of 67 years, Henry M. Phipps USN retired; daughter, Dolores Clopton; agranddaughter Karen Sizemore. Rose was born in Imperial Valley, CA on April 10, 1913. She has been a resident of Pensacola since 1950. Her love in life was to her family and painting. She started to paint early in life and continued until her failing health at the age of 90. She showed her love and talent by giving her art pieces to family members and friends. She painted flowers, Sea and Landscapes, but roses were her specialty. She was a member of the local China Painting Club and other painting organizations. She leaves behind five children, daughters, Dianne Sizemore and Jenny Johnson; sons, Louis (Barbara), Leslie (Sandy), and Skeeter; twenty seven grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren and seven great great grandchildren. We will miss our loving and caring Mother, Grandmother, and Granny Rose. Tell your mother that you love her, And say the words just now. Sometime you'll stand where flowers cover The folded hands and marble brow. What then to her will mean your lilies Or the message of a rose? Give her your tender love today With the sweetest flower that grows. Written by Rosamond's Grandmother, Mattie McCan 1863-1925 A special thank you to Debbie Baker for the loving care she provided to Mom. Visitation will be Thursday, November 15, 2007 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Bayview Fisher-Pou Chapel.
