  • Obituary: Services will be held Tuesday for retired Navy Capt. Stanley John Lewandowski, 77, who died Saturday in his La Mesa home. Mr. Lewandowski was born and grew up in Lyndhurst, N.J., where he attended trade schools and worked on the local railroad. In 1928, he left to join the Navy. He remained in the Navy until retiring in 1959. He fought in both World War II and the Korean War. His decorations included the Bronze Star. Mr. Lewandowski came to San Diego soon after entering the Navy, and in 1932 married Regina Belle Weatherbie. He belonged to the Retired Officers Assocation, the Elks Lodge in El Cajon and the Veterans of Foreign War. The rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow in Our Lady of Grace Roman Catholic Church in El Cajon. Burial will be in El Camino Memorial Park. He is survived by his wife, Regina; two sons, Stanley of El Cajon and John E. of Littleton, Colo.; a brother, Ted of Lyndhurst; and three grandchildren.
