  • Obituary: Ronald K. Whitt, of Hanover, passed away on June 17, 2024 at the age of 88. He was the son of the late Versa (Cornett) Whitt and Earl Pruit Whitt, brother of Judy (Whitt) Geckler of Fort Collins, CO and husband of Julie Ann (Watson) Whitt of Teaneck, NJ. Ron was born on February 11,1936 in Middletown, Ohio. After captaining the Middletown High School football team, he went on to obtain his bachelor's degree from Bethany College (WV) where he also played football and met his wife. Ron joined the United States Marine Corps in 1958 and was honorably discharged as a Captain in 1969. He married the love of his life, Julie Ann (Watson), and the two settled into the Corps in VA, NC and NJ-then onto Boston and Hanover to raise their three sons. Ron worked in sales for Motorola, Raytheon and with two of his sons in the construction business. When Ron wasn't working, he loved living in Hanover and was an active town resident. He was a tremendous father who actively raised his three sons, always involved. Ron was a perfect gentleman, tireless worker and a jack of all trades. He was always in motion to the age of 88, constantly doing home improvements, yard work and golfing with his wife, Julie of 66 years. They spent many winters in Sarasota, FL and traveled with friends. Everyone who met Ron liked him immensely. Ronald was the loving husband of Julie Ann Whitt. Devoted father of R. Keith Whitt and his wife Darlene of Hanover, Wendell D. Whitt and his wife Deborah of Rockland, and Craig S. Whitt and his wife Karin of Kingston. Grandfather of 10 and Great grandfather of 8, Ron was a quintessential family man. A memorial visitation will be held at the Sullivan Funeral Homes, 551 Washington St. Rte. 53, Hanover, on Monday, June 24th from 3-6pm.
